Study party #3

FRIYAY! You know the drill by now.. time for another study party with me. Today: no freebie but three awesome articles and a video on the topic I blogged about this week too. Ready to have fun? Keep on reading!

We all have those days.. Instead of spending our time studying we rather want to Netflix & chill in our pj's all day every day. We all know that ain't gonna work, right? I've always been very interested in motivation and I've read a lot of articles on this topic but this one I wanted to share with you. Want to know more about external and internal motivation? Are you sick of me promoting my own university yet? Well, I know a lot of you want to know more about it, because I get a ton of questions about studying there everyday. I already talked a bit about why I study in Leiden (here) but this article I found the other day goes more in dept on studying in Leiden as a foreign student. Lets get real. Having to study, maintaining a social life, have family time.. It is hard sometimes! Having some tricks of your sleeve for studying fast is the way to go, you know. The first tip that is given in this article is one I love to use. Taking in information in different ways is key for me. First I read the text book and powerpoint sheets given by the teacher. After that I (sometimes) make a summery of the text I have highlighted in my book. I prepare my classes by making the assignments and I make flashcards for easy learning during my exams. But I have to say.. the other 19 tips are pretty great too!

I talked about a very sensitive topic this week. Failing. I can speak about it openly (because I can talk about everything.. no shame in my game, girl) but I know a lot of you guys feel ashamed when you 'failed'. I claimed in my blog post that not a lot of big study gurus talk about this topic but I need to take back what I've said. My study queen, Lilia, actually made a video about it and shares her story in it! Knowing that you're not the alone.. it makes you feel better. I suggest you watch this video and start to speak up about what you feel. This community is very inspiring but also very warm and kind. 

Before I wish you a weekend full of fun things, I wanted to tell you that I am not that much of a failure. I just found out that I nailed an exam I thought I had failed like no other! I was going into the room were the exam took place with the mindset of 'I'll make this exam but I'm not going to pass it. See it as another practice and I will nail it next year.' but I think that feeling made me so relaxed that.. I FREAKIN' NAILED IT! Now, time to pop the champagne! Happy weekend guys!

Study party #4

Ok, it's Friday again guys. Time to party! I will be sharing a hotspot (there will be a separate blog post on it as well) and a fun Wikihow article on writing essays. That is not it.. but if you want to know what I have more for you, you need to click 'read more'!  ROOS is a new (breakfast) hotspot my bestie and I discovered last Wednesday. I wanted to talk about this place briefly since I'll be writing a dedicated blog post on it next week, but.. WE LOVED IT! If you happen to be in Leiden this weekend you need to stop by there. You can visit ROOS in Leiden at the Botermarkt (nearby the city hall and shopping district) every day from 8 am to 6 pm. I've heard they have the best cakes in town!
