Study party #4

Ok, it's Friday again guys. Time to party! I will be sharing a hotspot (there will be a separate blog post on it as well) and a fun Wikihow article on writing essays. That is not it.. but if you want to know what I have more for you, you need to click 'read more'!  ROOS is a new (breakfast) hotspot my bestie and I discovered last Wednesday. I wanted to talk about this place briefly since I'll be writing a dedicated blog post on it next week, but.. WE LOVED IT! If you happen to be in Leiden this weekend you need to stop by there. You can visit ROOS in Leiden at the Botermarkt (nearby the city hall and shopping district) every day from 8 am to 6 pm. I've heard they have the best cakes in town! Ps. this lovely lady is in fact my best friend!  Photo/logo: WikiHow I get a lot of questions on how to write essays from friends and Instagram followers. More specifically, on how I write my introduction/first few sentences. I googled about essay writing thi...

3 ways to study efficiently

I've got my first official request! Yep, that is really exciting for me! As you may have guest from the title.. it's about my favorite efficient ways to study. Thank you @tugbainsta for submitting your question/request, I hope this blog post helps! Let's start with my favorite way to study and remember case law: flashcards! I introduced this method last January whilst studying for my Civil Procedure Law exam. On one side I write down the name of the case in red pen (because I use the color red for case law everywhere, like summaries and such). On the other side I write down the rule of law in regular blue pen. When my exam is coming up, I revise by playing 'memory'. You might now this game from your childhood; you lay down the cards all facing one side (name of the case or rule of law) and try to name what is on the other side. When you do this enough times and you keep repeating it on the days before your exam.. It works. Try it yourself if you don't already ...

Study party #3

FRIYAY! You know the drill by now.. time for another study party with me. Today: no freebie but three awesome articles and a video on the topic I blogged about this week too. Ready to have fun? Keep on reading!  Photo: Thoughtco We all have those days.. Instead of spending our time studying we rather want to Netflix & chill in our pj's all day every day. We all know that ain't gonna work, right? I've always been very interested in motivation and I've read a lot of articles on this topic but this one I wanted to share with you. Want to know more about external and internal motivation? Click here ! Photo/logo: University of Leiden  Are you sick of me promoting my own university yet? Well, I know a lot of you want to know more about it, because I get a ton of questions about studying there everyday. I already talked a bit about why I study in Leiden ( here ) but this article I found the other day goes more in dept on studying in Leiden as a foreign s...

How to deal with failure

Let's discuss a topic that seems to be avoided by some study gurus. Maybe they never have to deal with it, as I wish nobody needs to deal with it! But well, (almost) everyone feel like they fail once or twice in their life.. Right?  I always had problems with getting good grades, until I starting my third year in high school. I felt like things went more smooth in my life. Combining my dancing and studying became more 'normal' and I simple loved what I was doing. I think it had everything to do with choosing the courses I wanted to take instead of having to take all courses the school provided. Even in the last year of high school, the year I got chronically ill and wasn't at school that much, my grades went through the roof. It was insane! The first five years after high school, studying law in different levels of education, everything went just fine. Well, life turned around drastically.. In my second year of uni/law school I started to fail exams like cr...

Study party #2

Hi, welcome back to a new study party! It's Friday, YAY, so time to go through all things (study) fun. If you want tips on taking beautiful notes or you want to know more about studying abroad.. Keep on reading! Photo: Elsa Leiden Let's start off with an Instagram shout out! If you may know, I am a student at the Leiden Law School (Leiden University). Besides that, I'm a lover of the look of my faculty too. That's why I wanted to share their Instagram with you guys, because you might love it as much as I do! The faculty building combines old with new and that's what makes it so much fun to look at. Knowing that Einstein gave lectures here is incredible! If you want to see more of this and other beautiful buildings the Law faculty uses, follow their Instagram (run by fellow students) here !  Photo/logo: College Tourist Next up, a blog post. This one gives you 10 reasons why you should study abroad in college ! I know a lot of you guys have the wish ...

Student hotspot | Anne & Max Leiden

Having breakfast with your bestie before class.. I can't think of any better way to start the day! I haven't seen her in forever and since she lives and studies in Leiden too we had to have a breakfast date! Anne & Max is a cute little coffee place where you can also enjoy breakfast or lunch and it is just a 2 minute walk from the faculty! Foto: Anne & Max  Anne & Max is designed to feel like a big living room. Having large windows and a neutral color scheme, this place feels like a home away from home! When you're a student, this place is great for studying outside your school or having a lunch or coffee with friends or with your study group. When you're a tourist, this is a hotspot as well! Just around the corner of the shopping district and tourist-y sights lies this beautifully designed place-to-be with (in summertime) a large terrace! Can I start off all study days so relaxing as this one? On the menu I see a lot of great food. You can go...

3 Law school questions answered

Hi guys! I bet you, as a student, get a lot of questions about your study. Why do you study there? Why do you study (fill in the name of your study here)? Isn't it boring as hell? Well, for everyone who is curious about my law school experience.. here are my answers to the most frequently asked questions!  Why did you want to go to law school in the first place? And why study in Leiden specifically? Let me start off by telling you that being in law school wasn't my plan. At all. I wanted to become a ballet teacher. I am/was a dancer since I'm 5 years old and even went to a special high school to combine studying with dancing. I was classically trained (ballet) and did competitions in Latin-American with my partner(s) and streetdance with my school team. When I didn't get into the school I wanted, I needed to change my plan.. I thought I would only study law for one year and then get into the school I wanted after auditioning. Well, I didn't a...

Study party #1

Hi you guys! Today is the first day I'm hosting a 'study party' overhere! No, I do not claim this is a totally new concept but I love these kind of weekly/monthly returning posts on lifestyle blogs where the blogger shares their favorite posts and stuff like that from other influencers. Let me say, it inspired me to do the same kind of thing but with everything study related! In todays study party you'll find two motivational blog posts by two biggies in the study world, a great freebie and a YouTube video on hacks that will motivate you to study. Let's hop right into it!  Photo: Ways to Study   First of, the mysterious lady behind Ways to Study. Her Instagram account is out of this world and so is her YouTube channel and blog. She is a Dutchie, just like me (and the beautiful lady I will talk about next) and her handwriting is on point. I'm jealous! For today I picked a blog post from earlier this month on how to remember study material . She explains ...

Weekly study planner + freebie

Don't we all dream about being a perfectly organized student? Well, I know I do! For 99% of the time I am perfectly organized. I know what to do, where to be and what to bring but there are times even I struggle with it. That's why I wanted to create a weekly planner especially for students. Here it is! I use different kind of planners. Sometimes I use my big ring bound planner but currently I am using a bullet journal system in my blue/green bullet journal from Leuchtturm. I make a monthly planner which gives me a quick overview of things. About keeping track of to does.. I don't.  It's all in my head! But there are days that I'm a mess and my brain thinks 'I don't cooperate today, bye!'. Those days scream for help. Watch me messing up the time.. Having different ways to write down times (Dutch vs English)..  I made this, very structured and simple, weekly planner for myself and you guys to help keeping us on top of things. Above the actual p...
